Abstract

Bind signal identification is one of the necessities of intelligent receivers. Since burst-mode signal transmission is widely used, burst detection, i.e. detecting the beginning and the end of bursts, is an important problem. In this paper, a new method for burst detection is proposed. In this method, the beginning and the end of bursts are detected according to the energy ratio changes. In addition to Dice similarity coefficient, burst and silence error errors are proposed to evaluate detection methods. Simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method compared to the conventional methods. For example, for signal to noise ratio of 2 dB, Dice coefficient of the proposed method is around 0.999 which is much better compared to auto-correlation detector with dice coefficient of 0.96.
